What sport can you get the best at with early introduction rather than natural talent?

I agree with a PP who said introduce swimming or other big movement based activities like gymnastics and then progress to activities like golf, rowing, tennis, water polo, or squash where early exposure can make a big difference. These sports are all big $ sports. I would also put running and cross country skiing in the mix although early exposure and good technique won't make up for a lack of athletic ability like squash or golf.

If you put your kid in gymnastics, do it b/c it good for them. Do not do it b/c you want them to excel at the sport. Even with kids who end up competing, most leave the sport before high school.

I want to know which sport is best to get into top college? Child is thin. Not too tall.

I can't speak for other sports but I put my kid in parent and me soccer classes starting when he was 2 because we wanted to get an early introduction to sports/physical activity. I did not know at that time (until I had other kids) how unathletic and uncoordinated he was and to be frank, quite uninterested. I thought that was just normal kid behavior as he was my first. So he was often distracted and it was challenging getting him to focus all the time. But we persisted with those classes and then putting him in a small soccer club where he continued to practice 2-3 times a week. He did not play matches however until he was around 8 as he had no desire to compete until around that time. He is almost in high school and plays travel soccer and he is actually quite good, maybe not D1 good but at least in this area, good enough to play in high school and maybe D3 or D2. He is also super thankful we stuck with it because he's proud to be a good soccer player and has no interest in any other sports, even sports which at this point, he might even be better at. Good luck!
