| At least 2 kids joined the magnet during DD’s 7th grade. This was 2 years ago. So it has happened in years past. |
Two years ago, those students joined as second semester 6th graders. |
| I feel like the 7th grade independent research project has been a type of hazing as well. |
Why? I don’t think it’s fair to use “hazing” for this. It’s literally the point of the program!! |
Yes, I know. I was just using "hazing" because it was referenced above at the 6th grade level. It was a tough year of online learning, social isolation, etc and they chose not to reduce the burden of the IDRIP on the kids. It is an important project, but there was little grace given to the students. |
They could have gone back to their home schools. Rather than water down the rigor for everyone else. |
| Are the classrooms at Eastern close to equal in terms of numbers of girls and boys? |
| And will there be open houses as in past years for Eastern and Takoma, or is the pre-recorded video presentation a stand-in for the open house? |
|
| So...the building is that bad, huh? This might actually be a factor for my child, who will otherwise go to TPMS (non magnet). |
No. They skew AFAB. |
What does AFAB mean? What direction do they skew? |
|
AFAB: "assigned female at birth"
I had to look that one up. |
Oh, I know that one. But I don't see how it applies here, since surely MCPS isn't providing data on how children were assigned at birth to parents. So, the question would be which way does the population's gender skew? |
| It was answered. |
