They can wake up minutes before class start, they can use the bathroom with out permission, they don’t have to hide their phones or they talk to their fiends withtout getting in trouble ... feel free to add to the list

I teach Upper ES and they absolutely will. They will also hate that they are not with their friends. I can see some of my very small group staying home on e they see how much freedom they lost.

??? They aren't with friends at home.

Umm, yes some are. Learning pods, informal friend groups. Kids are absolutely getting together for school.

Very few kids are in learning pods.

There are lots of informal get togethers for school at the HS level.

What about the HS kids who don't have friends and have had little social interaction since last March? What about ES and MS kids who don't have friends or who can't make their own plans and take themselves places to meet up?

Well, my 6th grader doesn’t have a phone nor a way to chat with his friends, let alone doing that during class. He’s certainly not getting to hang out them except masked outdoors about once a week.
Yes, he likes being able to sleep later & eat more often. But he’d rather be around other people.
And of course my first grader misses being at school with other kids, despite enjoying the extra outdoor time that comes with DL.

Considering mine asks when she can get the vaccine every.single.day I don't think she's that concerned.

What an idiotic thread.

Kids need a life outside of their family for their social emotional development, which FCPS claims they are emphasizing this year...

Mine would be thrilled to have even one other kid in the classroom with them. CANNOT WAIT!

"That" is just as acceptable (even though to me it sounds very wrong, at least to me).

My 7th grader is excited just to meet her teachers! She would go without any other students. She doesn’t see friends during the school day now, only after and on weekends.

The best day of the school year? PSAT day.

She’ll be fine without the snacks and random bathroom breaks. 2 days a week.

My DS is a senior, also introverted. He is dying to go back.

They need a life outside of their house for their social development.
