Meanwhile crowded Catholic schools have been humming along fine 5 days a week since September with NO DEAD TEACHERS OR CHILDREN, of which we were told to expect plenty.

which catholic school is "crowded", and please define "crowded". Are we talking 30 kids/class?

yes - that is typical for catholics

DP here. The Catholic school by us has like 56 per grade - normally two classes of 28. This year they added a third class per grade with an IA and they watch instruction live online from the class next door. They rotate which class gets the IA. This brought the class sizes down to about 18. No closures and if there have been quarantines I haven’t heard about them.

Ours has 16 per class. They wanted to raise it this year and parents threw a fit. Half of what we pay for is small class sizes. My kid in FCPS has classes of 30 plus for every subject.

I have a friend who is a teacher in MCPS. She has posted at least 10 times about how Hogan wants to kill teachers.

I don’t think the teachers are going to take this lying down. Buckle up for a fight.

I think teachers, staffs and kids are all taking risks, so do everyone’s families even teachers & staff are vaccinated first & adults get vaccinated later.

Everyone is taking risks, so one cannot say that it only will kill teachers only. I would say at least teachers are more protected( after vaccination), and so do their families OVER kids and kid families if school is in person.

I really think this is a loud but small minority of teachers. Most of the ones I know are happy and relieved to return once vaccinated.

I think people in Maryland are much crazier than people in Nova. During the pandemic and before that.

PP here who asked about catholic school class sizes.. this is what I've heard, and why people choose private schools.. for the smaller class sizes, so I was kind of surprised when someone stated that class sizes in private schools were like 30 per class.

My kids are in MS/HS in public, and I know that some of the classes have 30+ kids. At one point I was thinking of sending one DC to private for the smaller class sizes, but if private schools for MS/HS have large class sizes, too, then I don't think I would send my kid to private.

so, not sure how a large school with large classes would operate 5 days/week with kids going in person during a pandemic.

Yes, if you follow both boards, you realize how thoroughly batsh*t insane many posters are over there.

Daycare never went away so Hogan wants to kill them or are teacher lives so much more valuable? Both work with children.

She's not making a credible argument, and more and more people know it. Her posting frequency sounds like desperation knowing this is all coming to an end.

Our catholic has about 30 per class. We were at public before and sizes were about the same. But the key difference was how much more orderly the classes were at the Catholic (I volunteered a lot at both schools). At the public it was insanity every time I went in. At the catholic it was rows of orderly quiet desks. The catholic has been open full time without a single closure. The classes were split into two groups and specials and other teachers were flexible and moved around - something public school teachers were straight up unwilling to do. I'm sorry but it is complete and utter BS that publics could not have been open in some capacity this entire time. Hybrid, just for special needs kids, anything. The Catholics straight up call the bluff on the bs about funding and class size.
