I think getting along with reasonable people who are different from you is an important skill.

Some people have it, others don't.

As prior examples showed, in this area it's the far left that are intolerant while in other areas it's the far right.

I try to avoid super political places and people for that reason. (I'm here for work and family.).

I've never had any issues, but I'm not a Trump supporter, just a moderate conservative, and I usually self select away from the crazies to begin with.

People are more normal further out. So if you feel like this is an issue, just live in Rockville instead of Takoma Park.

If you hang around political activists, then you'll need to pick your side and expect to deal with a lot of narrow minded obsessives.

You don't have to be on the far left to hate Trump. Lots of moderates on both sides hate his guts.

Right, agreed. I'm not trying to criticize people for hating Trump. Certainly he has some very obvious character flaws. But I am not going to demonize over a hundred million people (Trump base) without personal knowledge of who they are and why they supported him, and I think doing that is "far left obsessive" behavior.

Generally, I dislike extremists. Left or right or religious or "new atheist" or whatever. Just say your peice and treat others with respect. That's what moves society forward.

Rockville - 67% Hillary, 23% Trump

Bethesda - 77% Hillary, 16% Trump

Takoma Park - 90% Hillary, 4.3% Trump

Arlington - 72% Hillary, 17% Trump

Alexandria - 79% Hillary, 13% Trump

Tysons Corner - 67% Hillary, 25% Trump

You have to leave the Beltway to escape the groupthink.

Montgomery County is especially egregious because it's like a club. If you are a business owner and you want to speak to your elected officials, attend meetings and functions and engage with the people around you, you have to get through the leftist herd first.

Here, it's as if people just ASSUME you're against Trump. It's been like that since 2016. To be accepted into fine society you have to be liberal, politically correct, a Democrat, and against Trump. Neighbors are cliquish and don't want to hang out with you if it is known that you support Trump. Worse of all, people just casually make digs at President Trump and assume you'll go along with it. This is seen all over society whether it's schools that allow students to protest against guns but not against abortion, or casual dining room conversations where Trump is the butt of the joke or an icebreaker being like how horrible Trump is, or a small business selling "Maryland gifts" has Trump toilet paper. Do people not. get dissenting opinions, and why is it just assumed that everybody hates Trump? It's just so casually assumed that nobody could possibly support Trump and be their neighbor.

We asked a family to Bubble with us during quarantine and they declined after I finally got a Trump bumper sticker. It's disgusting.

No what is disgusting is a "parent" driving around with a bumper sticker supporting a man that lies daily and has killed 190,000 Americans. What is "disgusting" is a person who supports a President that in no way shape or form has the best interest of the country.

This is not Republicans vs Democrats anymore.

You are teaching your children you support a liar, scam artist, criminal shall I go on. Great parenting!

Not only that what are you supporting, because clearly as usual Trump is a failure. Before he became President he failed, Trump University scam to the tune of 25 million dollars. Trump Foundation scammed 2.5 million from people who thought they were giving to charity. Trump modeling agency quite hypocritical of you to not complain about that when he literally had illegal underage teen models. Disbanded by the feds and sanctioned. And now only thing he has done is create chaos and steal from taxpayers millions and millions of dollars.

A paper bag would be better than Trump! So yes a Montgomery County resident I see your bumper sticker and I see racist, bigot, anti semite, and complete stupidity. Most importantly I see a person who literally breeds hate!

It's not "political". My educated Republican friends all hate Trump because he's a vile POS.

Where I come from, it's "not polite" to openly support an incompetent, racist, half-insane would-be demagogue.

Sigh. That's roughly a third of the country. 1/3 Trump, 1/3 anti-trump, 1/3 middle. Total numbers not voters. It's roughly accurate, this is a post from my phone on a conference call not a freaking phd dissertation.

I'm in the 1/3 middle but can get along with about 80% of people and get ticked off at the fringes. Which was my point.

There ARE Trump supporters in Montgomery County.

Last year I attended the Legal Immigration rally that protested Comrade Elrich. It was packed with people who support LEGAL immigration and President Trump, and don't support abolishing ICE.

I don't mind Republicans whatsoever. We can disagree on policy all day long. I am never going to think highly of you or respect you if you support Trump (who I don't consider a Republican BTW).

He's not. He's a self professesed nationalist.

Maybe ask one of them to bubble with you, then.

Trump thinks we and our daughters should die if a pregnancy goes south. Why would I support people who elect that?

Who has the backing of the GOP and all its boot licking racists and opportunists. He IS the Republican party now.

Any thinking person is "anti Trump."
It's fine to a Republican or a Democrat or an Independent, but "Trump supporter" now equals white racist supporter at this point.
