| In the 2024A division, I see Crabs and Crabs Old Bay. What's the difference between the two teams? Which team is better? |
"Old Bay" is probably their double holdbacks.
|
| Old bay is the Looneys team left a formed under Crabs org |
| Anyone else notice HoCo scores are all screwed up? |
| Turns out HoCo fall has been pretty boring at least for the middle and elementary grades. Next Level looks like it is going to win the 2025, 2027, 2028, and 2029 divisions by very wide margins with all those teams undefeated so far per the standings. 2026 seems pretty competitive because NL doesn’t have the same strength in that year. Without Madlax and Hawks playing, HoCo doesn’t have the same feel even for the younger years and the high school divisions are lacking the vast majority of the top teams. So my guess is the fall league does become a one time thing. Anyone disagree? |
You’re probably right but would love to see it continue and have the programs that seem to have boycotted it join in. |
| There's no way they will discontinue it. They had over 100 teams register with very little notification and restrictions due to covid. That's over $100k in fees to cover costs. It's a huge success despite a few teams not being in the right division. |
Just curious, but do you know if in a normal fall those fields were otherwise being used by different sports (eg, football) that may not be playing now? |
| It's not really clear if it was a one time make-up for the missed spring, or permanent. Surprised to hear that NextLevel dominated so many divisions. 2026 was very successful; five team were evenly matched and had good games; two teams struggled. |
A bunch of kids who did not get to play in the spring got the opportunity to play and have fun in the Fall. You’re a pretty miserable person if you look down on this. |
| I’d like to see it come back. Was fun to watch the boys out playing. Not all games competitive, but it was more a success than not I think. |
That's a good point and certainly other sports would have been out there but that may not be the case moving forward. Football has been in decline and who knows how many organizations have folded and won't be coming back. I think this league has carved out space for the future and that is actually the case in county rentals. Once a league is established, they have historical priority. |
| I do not have boys so pardon my ignorance but the website says the league has been around since 2013. Girls play in the NGLL in the Spring....is the Ho Co league the boys equivalent for the Spring? Is this the first time this has been offered in the Fall? If this is where boys play in the Spring where did they play prior to 2013? |
| HoCo Spring league has been around since 2013 and is where all the top teams in Maryland and Virginia play for grades 3-8. High school age play with their high school in the spring. There are various divisions based on the competitiveness of the team/club. This is the first time they’ve done a fall league. Teams usually just play tournaments in the fall. Not all teams that play in the spring signed on for the fall - for various reasons. It’s not clear right now if they will continue to hold a fall league or this is just going to be a makeup for the spring. |
