Thoughts on Grace Episcopal Day School in Kensington

The concerns raised by earlier PPs are all valid. While Grace is a great school and we love the small family feel, they haven’t handled distance learning very well. We also feel with all the available space they could have opened one or two days a week. I think the HOS is doing a good job in a difficult period but decisions like closing school for the whole week of thanksgiving because the teachers need a break are questionable. It would have been nice to let parents know this was being considered before changing the calendar.

I am not sure how the vitriolic PP got all of this "information" and chooses to slam the school on an anonymous board. If you are unhappy, just leave the school. Given the Episcopalian emphasis on kindness, it is probably better for the community if your family is not there. Most people, but especially Episcopalians, teach their children that if you cannot say kind words, you should not speak at all.

Kudos to the Grace administrators and faculty who work so very hard to give Grace students a rich education. This alum parent will try to step up the donations.

That may be true, but she had no significant leadership experience prior to taking on this role. That was known and accepted. This is an especially difficult situation even for experienced HOS, let alone inexperienced ones.

PP what grade are you referring to? Because our child's DL has been excellent.

I agree that they could have opened more days but weren't they simply phasing in one day a week first?

I agree re Thanksgiving. I suppose that I didn't question it because DL seems to take an extraordinary amount of work.

All schools are practically opening now! Is Grace opening for more days?

No, Grace was starting out one day a week beginning in October. There hasn't been an update as to that schedule. So, in other words, no.
