return from sleep-away camp, should kid skip soccer practice?

You can’t just get a test. You have to meet the criteria. At least in VA.

Then drive over the line to DC and MD - anyone can get a test.

For example, my kid is training with his current soccer team and it's full contact. If he was to go play with a different group of kids, would the idea be to self quarantine before joining a different group of kids? Because my kid plays soccer with a bunch of different groups of kids every week. Every week, different kids come to the sessions that participates in.

You are the problem

So no one should be sending their kids to soccer practice? We are the problem if we do? You are on a soccer thread. Are you saying that you don't send your kid to soccer practice? Full contact soccer practices currently meet the current back to play guidelines. I'm not sure why I'm the problem.

Do you drive 65 on a snowy highway because the sign says you can drive 65?

So you are saying that there should be no soccer practices and everyone should stay home at this point? If so, honestly, do yourself a favor, and leave this forum because this forum is about people talking about their kids playing soccer and you aren't going to change anyone's mind.

Nobody has said don’t go to soccer practice.

What people have said is don’t go to things like sleep away camps. And if you do go away to a sleep away camp get tested before returning to team practice or stay away for two weeks before rejoining.

Doing a sleep away camp in the current environment is dumb and reckless because it is unnecessary. So do it if you must but stay away from the team until you are deemed healthy.

At the very least let the team know where you went so they can make a decision to attend a practice your kid might attend before being cleared.

I disagree. Someone is saying that sending your kid to soccer practice even though allowed is the same as driving 65 on a snowy road. i.e. we shouldn't do it.

we must all quarantine. stay in your homes. we must unite as one and defeat this virus by taking precaution and keeping our children safe.

I am going to soccer fields tonight to report those in violation of precautionary measures. someone has to stand up to the madness

Nice! Where shall I meet you?

No, nobody has said that. I’m not saying it now either. Camp=dump, practice=much less dumb but not risk free.

My kid is going to practice but the difference between practice and a sleep away camp is night and day.

Honestly, I'd keep her out of soccer for a week, but owls dpropobzbly send during week 2. So a 10 day quarantine. I might test on day 8-10 if results are coming back quickly.

I know it's up to a 14 day incubation, but the vast majority are 5-10 days.

Has the camp indicated if they will do contact tracing? So if someone comes down with CIVD after camp, the camp gets notified and then in turn notifies others? Where we're really failing is in the contact tracing side.

My kid is 10 and the camp was the highlight of her summer after being locked down for 4 months. She would gladly sacrifice her entire Covid-era soccer career for a week of camp.

I've arranged to have her tested on Monday and will keep her home at a minimum until the results are back.

Thank you. You did the right thing to have her tested and wait.

Nice to hear this responsible decision. If we were all this cautious, our numbers wouldn’t be spiraling out of control. Hope she is able to do some training on her own and get her results quickly!

My kid tests every day with temp and pulse oximeters, plays fortnight, and gets fed with the same spoon that we cleanse every hour. We hope this meets with your approval and that you think this is a responsible decision. Now drop the nauseating condescension and superciliousness before people stop wearing masks out of disgust with your ilk.

Google: "Coronavirus test near me" and it will show you where you can get a test and what requirements are needed. Some need a doctor's referral, some are first come first serve.

You all are funny.
First, yes quarantine your daughter. No shame here.
Second, stop kidding yourselves if you think soccer practices are actually socially distanced. Even when they intend to be, they aren’t. It is no different than allowing your kid to have a bi-weekly play date with 12 other kids, every single week, without masks where you have no idea what the family is doing to protect themselves.

(doesn't sound much like camp at this rate but that's another story).

Upon return to DC would you have kid skip soccer practice for 2 weeks?
Soccer practice is of course also "distanced".
Thoughts?

I would lock my kid in a room with a mask on until there's a vaccine. I can't believe you were so selfish as to send him to camp in these times. You're a danger to society.

No, sleep away camps are a dumb idea, soccer or otherwise.

This ^. Kids need to be kept at home until this is over. I know the kids want to get out, but you need to be a responsible parent and make that decision for them. My kids are a little older which makes it harder to keep them indoors - but I bought three of these which have reall helped me get control of the situation: https://www.etsy.com/listing/574300181/biggest-iron-ball-and-chain-for-wedding?ref=shop_home_active_5&crt=1

They work great.

I've gone with these masks too. https://bottega.avalonceltic.com/rep_immagini/prod/mas001_b.jpg

None of my kids are dead so I know this was the right thing to do.
