Struggling with names for baby boy

This.

My 4 kids have top 5/10 names for their birth year, yet they’ve never been in a class or on a team with a kid with the same name. Not an issue at all.

NP, I accept the point that popularity matters less today bc there is more variety and the most popular names are not so concentrated as in previous years. At the same time I am leery of top-10 names bc it just seems so basic. My goal is a name with some history (ie nothing made up) that is recognizable but not too common.

Felix?

I would recommend the Baby Name Wizard book to anyone who's really stuck.

Op, what about Edison to honor your father? My dad is also an Ed and this is what we would have done if we had a boy. It seems classic while still being fresh and uncommon. Nicknames Eddie or Sonny.

The rest of my list was-
Brian
Patrick
Theodore
Alan
Dean
