Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
Your county can feel free to do the same thing. |
Yes, Governor McConnell is going to not only agree with the freeze in the LCI, but keep it in place until 2012: http://scottsurovell.blogspot.com/2010/01/fairfaxs-own-proposed-to-short-novas.html |
| I'm just waiting for all the FLES kids to come back to our local school and drive up the number of kids in the class. I wonder if they even thought about that! |
| To poster who proposed K-only SACC program -- there already is a K-only SACC program at some (all?) of the FCPS schools that have 1/2 day kindergarten; runs from end of morning K 'til end of the regular school day. |

The Fairfax County School Board's work session on the budget is tonight and will be broadcast on Channel 21 in Fairfax County.

Yes, this is true. Of course, only households that require aftercare due to full-time employment are eligible for SACC services. |

Here's a link to a petition re: FDK in Fairfax County. There's also a discussion board on Facebook (google Fairfax County Full Day Kindergarten). I think petition signatures are useful because elected officials look at signatures often = votes. Local elections can be very tight sometimes, and 3500 one way or another can determine an election outcome. |
The people on the petition site and FB are alarmists and delusional. |
| I didn't read all of the posts, but I didn't see anything I would characterize as alarmist and delusional. |
| When will the final decisions be made? Sorry for my ignorance on VA's budget process ... |
Here's a link to the budget timeline. The final decisions are not made until May. http://www.fcps.edu/fs/budget/calendar/index.htm |

"I didn't read all of the posts, but I didn't see anything I would characterize as alarmist and delusional." Then you must be on the receiving end of my taxes. Thanks for confirming that my taxes should be going elsewhere. |
Maybe it's time to move to Texas -- no state income taxes and plenty of people like you. |
I am the PP you quoted (but not the one who posted the link or is active in any way on the issue). I don't even know wtf your response means! I doubt I am on the receiveing end of "your" taxes as I pay plenty myself. Why don't you go on the site and pull a few quotes so we know what you think is is delusional? |

9:51 - I don't know what your language means. Are you even a taxpaying resident of Fairfax County? What percent of taxpayers are you? |
