How is the boys program at Falls Church HS? Looks like the new coach is a former coach they've brought back. Where did the young coach Kevin Diamond go who was the head coach the past 2 seasons there?

The comment was for the ONE poster that insinuated that Battlefield is no longer good because FCV DA took away all the good players and therefore only subpar VSA players were left.

I don't care about the Battlefield HS girls soccer program. My kid doesn't play for them nor is Battlefield in their district/region, etc.

I just believe that adults talking trash about players abilities, league of play, etc, should tell them directly verse anonymously on a forum.

At least give them a chance to fight back. Only a sucker throws sucker punches.

Many of the Boys will do both. DA is still the path for the most competitive D1 soccer programs, but a lot of D1,D2, and D3 Schools will look at boys primarily in travel clubs. If your not DA, you are more likely to have success with regional schools and their familiarity with your club. Most colleges are not really providing much weight/value to the HS teams. There are exceptions to the HS side when you are dealing with private/catholic schools but these are becoming more rare. Many of the local leagues and clubs accommodate HS by front loading or back loading games. From what I’ve seen, most boys will focus on HS during that season for the social/experience benefits, but still use the club team for training value. HS soccer is not great for development, but primarily focused on getting a bunch of disparate players jibing well enough to win games. One caution if pursuing both, overtraining is very real. Many HS teams will have a significant number of injured players on the bench during the season, and many club teams will he challenged to field full squads.

Overtraining is a genuine problem, your son does need to learn to listen to his body.

I'm an advocate for HS soccer because at least in my experience kids who play HS soccer together are more likely to play pickup soccer together as well. Yes, the training isn't much and the level of play is below what good club teams produce, but there's something to be said for self-starter, unstructured 'street soccer.'
