Throuple on House Hunters

This whole conversation has gone off the rails. Back to the episode, which I have not seen. I am a little more interested in the room set-up.

They needed more space for more beds or one much bigger bed?

I'm also gay and throuples are not common from what I see. I've heard of references but never actually met any and I've also heard plenty of negative sentiments about the concept. It's one thing to be sexually open but confirmed relationships are something else. People assume gays and lesbians are more tolerant but that's not necessarily true at all.

+1. When it’s heterosexuals involved, it’s always 1 man and 2 women. Why? It really makes you wonder. Plus if you bring young kids into it, that’s a whole different level of instability. I’ve got an acquaintance who is divorced and brought her 3 young elementary age kids into a “throuple” situation with an established m/f couple who have 2 kids of their own and have every other weekend with the man’s child from his first marriage. Just insanity to me, and to uproot your kids lives like that just for sex? Crazy talk.

I don’t care if it’s all adults involved, but when you have kids you have to be better, and not bring them into your weird sex situation. Because that’s all it is for most people. A man couldn’t keep it in his pants, and his wife is maybe bi anyway, so why not let him stick his dick in her too?

Hmm, I actually feel like I have seen the opposite more often. 2 guys and 1 woman. They don't usually share a bed and everyone involved seems odd and unattractive.

Agreed. I'm a cis white woman in a heterosexual monogamous relationship (married) and I see no issue with this.

Of course you wouldn’t. You used the term “cis”. Push that envelope.

Same. The only time I see throuples on TV or the news is a fat woman in the center with 2-3 pasty guys with scraggly beards huddled around her.

I'm surprised that the throuple on HGTV is mixed race. That's interesting. They're relatively good looking too.

The women are good looking. The guy is not a prize.

That is not a family. That is three people who like to get it on together.

Two of the three are legally married and the third had a commitment ceremony with both. The kids also were introduced in a fair manner. That's about as 'family' as you can get in this year with three people.

I don't see this as any different from blended families with stepparents and non-blood related siblings sharing a house.

You don't get to decide what makes a family a family. To me, family is anybody that you care about. It does not have to be a blood-based or marriage-based relationship.

Americans are such prudes.

The guy looks like Salman Rushdie.

Being in a relationship with two different people with their own set of needs sounds so exhausting.

Yes, I do get to decide for myself what makes a family a family. You clearly just decided for yourself, too.

There is no "fair manner" to introduce kids in this scenario.
