I did not have sex until I was 20, with a steady partner. My first memory of sexual abuse is roughly around age 8. My coping methods included extremely loose, layered clothing, binding my chest, anything to detract from my appearance.

My sister was not abused, I made sure the attention was directed my way, and she never knew about it until we were both mid-20s. She was very promiscuous, starting at 13, first threesome at 14 and I lost track of the number of her partners by 15. She doesn’t regret most of it, but while it may have been an indicator for someone else, it wasn’t for her.

I’m so sorry that someone did that to you. Kudos to you for trying to protect your sister.

There's lots of sexually active teens in upper middle class suburbs too. Granted most non-ghetto sexually active teens got started a lot earlier thanks to their priests, but you get the idea. It's a time of heightened hormones and curiosity, teens are gonna get it on.

Who gives a shit if it’s normal or not? Question is do do you wanna be a grandma at 40 with both your kid and your grandkid living in your basement?

I’m afraid it’s not a decision you can control so better that they’re informed, safe and know that they can talk to/come to you with concerns etc
