Which subreddit does he use? The ones for the individual schools? Or is there a college admissions one? |
+1 Posts went downhill after the redesign. I’ve been using reddit instead. |
A2C. It's a kid space, so let them do their thing and observe. https://www.reddit.com/r/ApplyingToCollege |
And there are subs for most colleges. Agree part of why it works is that it's a parent-free zone. |
Thanks for educating this ignorant father. Next you'll tell me kids don't use Facebook and Twitter. |

New poster here I just spent 5 minutes reading and I'm stressed out! Practically every other thread on there is talking about the subReddit and/or it's users being "toxic." |
And this place isn't? At least they are trying to address it. |
| College confidential is for old people (like me). The kids are on Reddit. |
Then don't read it? Discord is the other site where kids discuss things, including college -- but you really don't want to go there if Reddit stresses you out. |
| The website Niche has been helpful for me as a parent. |
| Anyone dealing with a deferral? Other than mid year grades, I don’t know what else a student can do but wait. |
Found this: https://admission.virginia.edu/defer |
Are you a legacy family? If so, a deferral is often a "soft decline". We got one of those from an Ivy where DD was a legacy. |
