Economy is roaring

Why has Trump moved to cut the food stamp program if we’re doing so well. why can’t we support those who aren’t?

700,000 people losing their food security right before the holidays. What a grinchy thing to do.

Is this getting homeless people off the streets finally?

My family on the west coast is better as well. My BIL has gotten a great job with the trucking industry. With the economy booming his workload is amazing and they just got their first house!

In my case I’m better off, better job and more money and my stock portfolio is amazing!

You have to ask if you’re better off than four years ago, and for many Americans according to numbers are better off.

Congratulations! Everyone's stock portfolio is doing better in terms of numbers over 4 years ago because the stock market ticks ever upward and has, on average, at 10% for many years now.

And it did the same over the past 8 years, too. And 15, 30 years. The stock market. It ticks upward over time. With dips.

And most people don't own stocks, so that is meaningless for a huge number of people/voters.

Oh please. Unless you completely do not gaf about your career and personal finance, it is incredibly hard NOT to own any interest in stocks. Have a 401k, IRA, or any other type of retirment account? Then you are likely vested in stocks. Even if you have a pension, your pension probably has vested interest in stocks. So many people invest in stocks who don't realize it.

+1. I did not vote for Trump in 2016, but I am too scared not to vote for him in 2020 for one reason only: the economy. I would never tell anyone that, though. I’m sure there are millions like me. I think he’s gonna win by a landslide.

This is all such a red herring. First, the economy is much more independent of the presidency than politicians like to think. Second, what could possibly happen to the economy with the senate in Republican hands? This is all crazy talk.

It's not being cut. It's being tightened. And, why should those who are able to work be subsidized by the government?

Under current rules, work-eligible, able-bodied adults between 18 and 49 and without dependents can receive only three months of SNAP benefits in a three-year period if they don't meet the 20-hour work requirement. States with high unemployment rates or a lack of sufficient jobs can waive those time limits.

Under the new rule, states can only issue waivers if a city or county has an unemployment rate of 6 percent or higher. The waivers will be good for one year and will require the governor to support the request.

The final rule will be published in the federal register Thursday and go into effect in April.

Doesn’t matter. The economy, or better yet the public’s perception of the economy, is what wins elections. The President knows that. Why do you think he’s focused now on the China trade deal?

Why do you think Trump is good for the economy?

All I know is that my 401K is up spectacularly since he entered office. That alone is enough for me, tbh. Don’t really care how it happens. As they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

It makes me sad to see how naive some adults are.

Oh well, you are going to be sadder next November.

Since we’re doing so well, it’s time to give police, firemen, teachers, librarians, social workers, and others employed by the state and feds raises. And also fine to end homelessness and hunger.

I think these folks have gotten more raises since Trump has been in office than in the 8 years Obama was president.
And, he is working on the homeless situation. It's a tough one to crack when liberal mayors and leaders refuse to face the homeless problems in their jurisdictions. And, when their policies increase homelessness instead of decreasing it.

Why? Because many of them are homeless or have transportation issues where they can’t get to jobs.
You know little about the lowest on the economic rung, so you.

The effect will be many more hungry in America including children. You cannot deny that will happen.

Trump promised his tax cuts would deliver 5% growth. It's currently 1.9%.

He said he'd eliminate the deficit. It's now $1 trillion.

He said he'd retire the debt in 8 years. It's now $23 trillion.

He said his standard for job growth would be 300,000 a month. Instead it is down 15% under Trump.

But hey, the Dow, woo hoo!

He is working on the homeless situation? By complaining to cities like San Fransisco they they’re ruining luxury buildings value? His solution would be to ship them off to die in The desert. He doesn’t give a cr@p about the homeless, only about the real Estate they’re ruining.
