I really dislike Xmas cards with tons of pictures

I like getting the cards, too, but my dilemma is what to do with them after Christmas. During the season, we put the photo cards on the fridge to enjoy. Should we then just throw them away? Somehow that doesn't seem right, but I don't really want to keep them with all of our family photos.

Do you feel guilty if you throw them away?

You should archive them.

MOST don't care about your kids and how cute (or not) they are.

I love my kids. But I'm certain that others don't give a rat's ass about the snapshot taken on Santa's lap in Dec. '09.

If you must, send pics over email - eco-friendly and oh so easy to delete!

How many hours per week do you spend working/away from your own children?

Just curious!

Merry Merry Christmas, you lovely mom and human being!

This lovely mother works 10-months out of the year with a 7-11 am schedule M-F. Family cares for my oldest, who's in full-day K, and my toddler son. I pick up my daughter from school each day - or sometimes my husband does. And I LOVE being home during the summer with my children and not having to work.

So what's your point?

There's nothing lovely about you.

That's your best comeback?

I agree with Lovely Mother. If it is not your kid or someone related to you it´s just not that deep. I pitch those photos in the circular file after a few weeks.

Just in case anyone is taking a count, I love photocards and love them all, but especially the ones with multiple photos. It's hard to get one good picture, and it's nice to see the kid in several poses because you get a glimpse of the personality. My favorite card of the year is the one my friends sends with a individual picture of each of her four kids and then one family shot. Sure, they are all small, but my eyes aren't that bad. Maybe the OP needs some glasses

I think people who take the time to write about how their time is wasted looking at 1 or 2 additional photos on a card but then take the time to write about it on DCUM are pretty amusing. I wonder if they get the irony...

There are a lot of things I don't like about life...this petty little thing is not one of them. It takes time to order and address Christmas cards. I like receiving them regardless of whether there is 1, 2, 6 or no photos. As for whether to keep them....are people really saying they keep ONLY the non-photo cards? Please...if you throw away your cards each year, fine...I don't really care...

This was our first year of sending out Holiday Cards/Birth Announcements. In retrospect, there was one picture that was WAY better than all the rest and we could have made a wonderful card with that one picture alone. Instead we were tacky and went for the tri-picture collage.

I'm sorry I caused so much pain to all the recipients. Next year (and/or child) I'll know better.

14:09 - My hunch is that your friends appreciated the card, and got the warm fuzzies about you, your friendship, and your cute kid. If you sent the "too many pics" kind to one of these picky people, and thereby caused them discomfort... ha! ha!

I love receiving cards. Pics of kids, many pics of kids... heck, I'll even take a picture of the Lincoln Memorial. If you are thinking of me and want to tell me so with a card, please go right a head.

I think (aside from the OP) that you are mis-interpreting the nature of those posts. They were being sarcastic and mocking the OP.

OP, you seem to have touched a nerve!!! I get what you're saying, and I'm not sure why people feel so vehement about it. My own take is that I'm not a huge fan of photo cards period. The ones I like best are ones that are cards, with a small photo enclosed. I find it aesthetically unpleasing to have a bunch of random pictures taped on my mantle, which is what I usually like to do with the holiday cards I get. I post so many pictures on the web that most people I send a card to are already familiar with what my kid looks like lately. But, to each his own, and I love getting any cards at all, so pictures or no pictures is a secondary issue.
