1st grader (fall bday) reading 3rd-4th grade level. Ask to skip a grade?

I think that she could "skip" but I wouldn't call it skipping. In MCPS they allow kids going into K and 1st to do early admission to the next grade.
We know one boy who has an October birthday who did this. He did K in a private and entered in 1st. In 1st his parents asked for him to be tested to move up to the next grade and he did. Parents said he did well academically but was socially behind. It did work out okay. He's in HS now.

You get 18 years with your kid at home before they go off into the world and don't need you.
Why cut it down to 17 years?

OP, our dd who was reading at the 6th grade level in K is now a slightly above average 11th grader with U of MD as her goal school.
LEAVE THE CHILD IN HER GRADE.
Also, you have a natural red shirt. Harvard doesn't want your 17 year old. They prefer your 18 year old going on 19.
