They could be Aspie or just plain stupid. Not everyone who lacks manners and awareness and common sense are smart - in fact, quite the opposite. Self importance and delusions of grandeur to a psychopathic degree does not mean one is smart or intelligent.

Disagree. Manners = intelligence. In DCUM land manners = doormat, but that is because people are generally quite angry here. Angry does not equal smart.

My dad always thought alcoholics were generally smart people and were alcoholics because they could see all the ways things could go wrong (he was very smart but he wasn't an alcoholic, he did not consider it an equivalency).

I get what your dad means. I believe people with anxiety have it for the same reason.
