Hire A Nanny or Daycare?

No nanny is going to take a job for such a short period of time--unless you lie by omission. Go to daycare.

+1. You already have decided on daycare so start in daycare. No good nanny would want your position.

You’re only going to find crappy nannies willing to take such a short job. These are either people who can’t get hired long term or are just starting out and have zero experience. Or some other reason they can’t get hired.

If you want daycare send your kid to daycare.

Good nannies want to work for good families. They don’t want to get attached to a kid and then leave after a month or 2.

Not always true. My friend has a wonderful nanny that helped out for 3 months until her child went to daycare. The nanny was only looking for a temporary job until she started school, which worked out for my friend. I had a co-worker also use a temporary nanny and she was fabulous.

A rare exception.

We hired a temporary nanny through an agency when we were in the same situation. It was a fair way to get a good nanny for two month until we got a daycare spot. She was great!

What was the agency fee for that? The agencies in our area (not DC) are prohibitively expensive.
