When did parents start dressing up for kids parties?

Anonymous
You may not care how you look but other people have toook at you and they do care. I am appalled at the way women dress today.

I'm guessing a fit woman in name brand athleisure looks way better than those of you who are bragging about being fat in a sundress and/or claiming khakis look good.

Nope, I don't care if you are a fitness instructor of the year, wearing athleisure clothing outside of the gym is inappropriate for grown women and will get an eye roll from me.

Why are you so invested in whether someone wears yoga pants? Literally no one cares if they get an eye roll from you.

If I see you in workout wear, guess what...I'm assuming you just...wait for it: worked out. As in you are sweaty, gross, and unclean. As in get away from the buffet at the party, because no one wants to sit or eat or socialize near your nasty ass.

I usually wear shorts or pants/jeans with a shirt or other top. Then, I can put my phone and other stuff in my pockets. No one expects men to go around with no pockets all the time.

It's called a handbag. Look into it.

+1 thank you

The leisurewear trend needs to die. It looks awful and reads you are a lazy slob.

To all of you that shower, get dressed in clothes not meant for sleeping or exercise, and brush your hair: THANK YOU. I hope I'm sitting next to you the next time I fly in an airplane

Was my outfit OTT? I just wanted to wear the adult version of a onesie in this heat.

I think this depends a lot on the style and fabric. Was it a shift dress? Was it lined? I think linen can look fancy.

You can eye roll all you want. I am in high end workout clothing the days I work (6 days a week, teaching classes and have 22 private sessions a week). I don’t have time to go home after taking my kid to preschool to change out of my Lilly Pulitzer dresses and into my Lululemon or Athleta for you. I don’t have time during the week to go home from work and change into my ‘fun clothes’ to go grocery shopping. I always get compliments on how I style myself and I am not walking around with my butt or boobs out. Deal with it. Your life is very limited if this is making you roll your eyes at women. You should get out more! Go workout.

So that’s your uniform? If I were a medical professional, would it be okay if i showed up at your house in scrubs? Go home and shower!

I wear sundresses quite often in the Summer. Cooler and more comfortable than pants.

This made me chuckle. And I totally relate to what you are saying.

The original post was referring to children's birthday parties and whether or not athleisure wear was appropriate. I also don't change out of my work clothes to pick up my kid or go grocery shopping, but I don't show up at birthday parties in a blouse and a pencil skirt.

I wear shift dresses all the time to casual events. I'm not going in workout gear or "athleisure." I like being slightly dressed up, and I really don't care if ppl get upset about it? Showing up in something other than yoga pants really isn't wildly overdressed.

Are we talking My Gym and Bounce House places or a BBQ at someone’s house? Because no one wore a dress to the trampoline place, my gym, bounce house, mini golf, state park, and numerous other kid parties hosted outside of my home.
Sounds like people are answering two different questions based on venue.
