Same. I cannot believe no one noticed that during the WHOLE process of making that logo and selling t-shirts emblazoned with it. |
The company had been around for a while. Apply common sense and logic to this situation, no one noticed because there was nothing to notice. If you look hard enough at anything with the suggestion of impropriety, you can find an issue |
Uh - let's try that again shall we?
Look - I'm not saying Simply Southern (SS!) is going out of their way to dog whistle being Nazis, but I'm also saying if NO ONE at the company noticed this resemblance and thought perhaps they ought get another draft of the logo before selling it, then they are stunningly ignorant. |
i think that's 100% wrong and if there were any cause/effect cognitive bias it would be between a swastika and the SS. |
| My wife will be devastated to know what the SS on the seats of her Camaro actually means. |
|
Or it could just be two Ss on top of each other with one vertical and one perpendicular.
Using your logic you could also find a few Kama Sutra positions depicted. |
|
Never thought of it before and do not have any simply southern merch
But I think OP is right and I think it is a dog whistle. Maybe a lot of people don’t know it is one or don’t see it as one, but that does not make is any less of one. That’s the point of dog whistles, only some hear them. |
|
Holy crap. You are right, OP!
Damn. Just damn. |
| Knock it off with the Southern hate. You don't get to dismiss an entire region of the US. Why can't you assume the best instead of the worst? Jeez |
| lol, it’s clearly supposed to be a riff on a monogram but also clearly looks like a Nazi thing. Idiots. |
| I've never heard of this brand before but yes, I totally see it. Gross. |
With this logo, "assuming the best" is that you're stupid and uneducated and ignorant AF. Assuming "the worst" is that it is intentional you want to draw lines between your company and Nazis. Pick your assumption, but neither are great. I won't dismiss an entire region. But this crap? Hell yes, fair game. |
+1 It’s absolutely meant to be a dog whistle. This thread dates from the Trumpenvolk years, and I know the trash brand OP is talking about predates that, but come the eff on. That logo is intentionally winking at both the tacky but inoffensive Southern tradition of monogramming everything that will stand still long enough and the unforgivable Nazis. To all those saying “OP just hates the south!” Lol. You told on yourselves. |
At best, I get to assume they are ignorant of history. I don't hate the south as a region. I hate ignorant people. Why are you crying for them? (dismiss, boohoohoo) |
Interesting leap there from questioning some brand that calls itself Southern to applying it to an entire region. Ironic |
