would you rather be overdressed or underdressed>

Nothing sucks more than being underdressed.

My suspicion is that white rich people would rather be under dressed than over. They don’t like to show their hand (I.e. show that they care).

Moderately rich white woman here. My natural instinct is to overdress, and that's what I generally prefer, but I force myself to underdress sometimes so that I don't appear to be high maintenance (which I'm not, really, I just like dressing up when the opportunity presents itself - perfectly happy to dress rugged for camping/hiking/fishing/etc). Ironically, I underdress to fit in.

This is a white woman thing, for sure. I am *never* thinking about that, ever.

I would prefer to be overdressed and wearing tasteful makeup.

Underdressed. I don't look good dressed up, so at least if I were under-dressed I could be comfortable.

The last time I wore a dress was about 8 years ago for a wedding, and I had to wear a camisole under the dress because the neckline was too low. The dress was some awful material as was the camisole - I was in Mexico and sweating BUCKETS because of the material not breathing.

It was sort of like this, but different (brighter, more summery) colors: https://www.macys.com/shop/product/i.n.c.-plus-size-striped-faux-wrap-dress-created-for-macys?ID=8040568&CategoryID=37038#fn=SIZE%3DSPECIAL_SIZE%3APlus%20Sizes%26sp%3D1%26spc%3D291%26ruleId%3D78%26kws%3Dwrap%20dress%26searchPass%3DexactMultiMatch%26slotId%3D4

If I cared about what other people thought, I would go out in public looking a mess, like they do.

I think being uncomfortable sucks more.

I'm a white woman and agree that it's a white woman thing. I used to worry about how people perceived my maintenance level, but thankfully no longer care. I'd rather be overdressed, personally, but I'm also not rich.
