I live in Rockville, so I usually shop at that Target. However, I realized a few years back that the Gaithersburg (Rio) Target is generally better stocked and organized than Rockville.
I will say that the staff at Rockville has always been very friendly and helpful. As an aside, I always thought that the layout which only had dressing rooms on the first floor, but kids clothes on the second was nuts. Kids grow so quickly, they have to try on everything and although I tried to grab an array of sizes, sometimes you still have to go back and get a different size, which means taking yourself, the cart, and the kids on another round trip up and down. |
I went to Kohl's over the weekend and was so surprised. It seemed to have so much less stock and the quality has really taken a hit. I hope they're not following in Sears/Kmart's path. |
I was sad to see the demise of Kmart. My mom and I used to drive to the last/best one we were aware of in Annandale from McLean (her) and Reston (me) until about six months ago when it finally died. I got a lot of good stuff there. |
I go to the Ashburn target a lot and do not understand what you're talking about. First world problems. |
NP. I hate that one too, because the "new and improved" re-org has already hit. Nothing is laid out the way it used to be and it's impossible to just have a straight-forward shopping experience. Whoever came up with this new plan should have been fired. It's so, so, so bad and used to be so, so, so fabulous. Makes me sad, as I was Target's #1 fan for years. Not anymore. |
+100 What I wish is that corporate would realize how horrible their new layout is and order reorganization plans to halt. Reston can simply load up all their useless displays back into the trailers that are sitting in their parking lot, and move them on out. Please, Target HQ: if you're listening, we HATE your new layout!!! Go back to the tried and true original model. You are losing customers. |
I'm dying!! So true! |
+1 And to think, I used to jump at any excuse at all to run to Target. Now it's a huge chore to go there and it makes me very sad. |
Yes! I noticed the lighting was this way in Reston, too. Very oddly bright fluorescent lights. Awful. |
DP. I thought the same thing when I read that comment and I know exactly the poster you're referring to! So prissy and self-righteous. |
Same here. I also responded on a FB thread that tagged Target - everyone was complaining about how bad it was. And I wrote an email to corporate. I normally don't get so overwrought about stuff, but with Target it's personal!!! ![]() |
It’s awful. It used to be my favorite store and after my recent visit to the rockville store I could see never going to the target again.
I had to look for an hour or more just for a few basic items that used to be easy to find. It was like being trapped in hell - I went in for a few things and could find nothing. I’m case they think that you’ll leave with extra stuff - no way after not being able to find stuff. The layout is awful- Easter candy next to big spray?? Ice cream next to the toilet bowl cleaner? Yuck. Just makes you sick. And the new displays of home items? It all looks like cheap crap and I’m not at all tempted. A lot of things are much cheaper now - the clothes, the home items, etc - I’m not buying that stuff. I remember gorgeous flannel pajamas ( thick. Cotton flannel) now it’s thin crap made out of weird fabrics. I don’t see good prices on basics either. High priced toilet paper and detergent ? Nope! |
I’m, I’m pretty sure that everyone responds that way - get a clue. |
This. Hate Target now! |
I normally shop at the Rockville target. Since they started the renovation I have been shopping more at Giant, Safeway, Walgreens and Harris Teeter. I went yesterday because I needed some things that I can only find at Target. I didn’t even bother trying to look, I just asked where things are located so I didn’t have to spend a huge amount of time hunting through the store. I personally do not understand their new organization of merchandise. I also dislike their impulse purchases in the middle of the aisle and how they’ve organized the clothing. I will have to say though, that I have never seen the Rockville store as a disaster. A disaster to me means looking like a bomb went off (clothing off hangers and all over the floor and other items off the shelf and on the floor). I don’t consider no baskets inside a disaster, I just consider that lazy employees. Like I said though, the layout no longer seems intuitive and I don’t have the time or the desire to peruse the isles. |
