Will VA1 play tournaments or just train? It sounds a good idea for those outside the better da’s and ecnl’s in the area.

Didn’t these same clubs try to do the same a few years back just under a different name. Didn’t see anything come out of that.

Winning 3 games in a tournament against nobody. Great job. I'm sure those cya kids like seeing what it's like to win a game again. Maybe that keeps them around for another year.

VA1 is just a supplemental program that takes the better players from a few clubs and puts them together. Why would it be surprising that the teams would do OK in a preseason showcase where better teams are playing their backups and evaluating newcomers?

Reading these threads is very sad as a parent. Why would I ever want to associate with such negative people who have no sense of a better, more inclusive, soccer community that is focused around giving children an additional opportunity to play more of the game they love. While it seems there is some odd animosity towards this new concept, what’s wrong with clubs coming together to do something different? The status quo in northern va is so toxic, and whether people want to love it or hate it, at least there are people out there trying to bring people together, instead of dividing everyone. We can all do much better than what is being said on this page.

Agreed. There is too much snark in our lives in and from every direction. Not the kind that springs from wit or intellect. You would think this could be an area where we might turn it down a tad. And yet here we are shaking our collective heads. At least most of us. I hope.
