Experience with Oak View Elementary

I would never want only the CES kids to go to St. Mary's. That would be awful. Still, it's unfortunate they can't make that field trip work out, since most of the schools the kids come from take that field trip, and Pine Crest, the other Center school in the cluster, takes that field trip. It is a great field trip all fourth graders should be able to take.

I think part of the problem is the contrast with Pine Crest. I have now had a child at both schools and the contrast is striking. I don't think it's fair. There are many more opportunities available for students at Pine Crest. There is a science fair, a geography bowl, the St. Mary's trip, bingo nights, two instrumental music concerts, Chorus concerts, walking field trips exploring nature in the neighborhood, a STEM night, on and on. There are many more academic activities and field trips than there were at Oak View.

And for the PP my experience at Oak View is recent. The IM teacher's schedule must have changed this year. Good, the poor guy was at a different school every single day. I don't mean to say someone shouldn't send their child to OV. The teachers are excellent. But the school is very different for a variety of reasons from the environment at many of the home schools incoming CES students will be coming from and people should know that and factor that into their decisions. Why hide that?
