Same with the 3.9 GPA if weighted. Her scores and GPA are too low for those schools

Her score is not too low for UMD.

It is, actually.

our Naviance shows literally every single student with those scores getting into UMD.

It may depend on the school. Is your school one of the higher performing schools? (In MCPS?)

NP: Our higher performing MCPS school would put UMD as a target (though not a safety), with a 4.2 weighted/1400 SAT. It looks like roughly 2/3-3/4 of kids with that score profile get in and it's above the average accepted. And that's not counting potential gains in GPA/SAT. Though Naviance is based on average of last 3 years, so I mentally always shift it up a notch due to increases in selectivity.

+1

UMD admissions were extremely competitive this year. They rejected kids with 1500+ SATs and high GPAs.

The 25-75 for UMD is 1290-1470 and the OP said her DD plans on retaking the test. She’ll probably be fine getting into Maryland.

Agreed. Our school's naviance shows a LOT of kids admitted with that score.

Are you sure Naviance is updated?
