Yeah, I think so, though I’ve seen a few amazing kids (one of whom also has a contract at 17 I think). |
Jordan Canniff has been a great player for a long time - no Nike contract though. https://washingtonspirit.com/2018/10/04/spirit-academy-md-forward-jordan-canniff-called-up-to-u-s-u-17-womens-national-team/ |
Just going to Penn State. How does a 13 year old get a contract in comparison? |
Canniff goes to a regular old high school and doesnt' seem to have parents whose full time job is promoting her. |
Is it more fun to tear down olivia moultre's family or washington spirit? |
Even though I don’t think my 10 YO DD would ever be a professional soccer player, I would rather her play for a good university and get a degree if she can make the college team.
I want her to have options and a backup plan in the likely case that her soccer dream doesn’t come true. Athletes are typically 1/2 major injury from ending their careers. Then, what’s next? |
Pele turned pro at 15. He's still the youngest player ever to score in a World Cup. Messi went to La Masia when he was 14 after having already been signed as a youth player at a pro club. |
They kind of do, but apparently not successfully. |
Unfair. No one is tearing down the family. They completely chose to put this kid out there on display. No one asked to look at this. We were invited to look, read feature articles, etc. Some like what they see and some don't. It will be like like one hundred bucks percent the time. If you don't want strangers discussing your parenting desicions, don't invite strangers in to discuss your parenting desicions. |
Jordan is doing great, on the u20 NT, so I’d call that pretty successful. |
Or U17. That's all the claps and games she's done. She went to U17 World Cup. |
Camps, not claps. Autocorrect strikes again |
Their upbringing and socioeconomic status, opportunities was FAR different from Olivia's whose father quit his full-time job to promote her and paid for a $60k turf field in the backyard. Pele and Messi used soccer as a way out of their circumstances, an escape. Quite different. |
Messi also needed medical treatment that his family could not afford. Barca took care of that. |
And, sorry, this is so female Messi/Pele. She is not even a Mia Hamm. |
