The FBI agrees with you. WTOP CEO of company that outfitted Montgomery Co. school buses with cameras pleads guilty to federal fraud charges and bus camera montgomery county force multiplier $6.4M fine |
You really have a thing for the school bus threads today. |
The guy bribed a public official, and not one in Montgomery County. That doesn’t make it OK to pass a stopped school bus in Montgomery County. https://wtop.com/montgomery-county/2018/08/ceo-of-company-that-outfitted-montgomery-co-school-buses-with-cameras-pleads-guilty-to-federal-fraud-charges/ |
| Happened to me too. Four lane road (East Jefferson) plus a turning lane in the middle, I was in the far lane and sign started coming out just as I passed (I caught it out of the corner of my eye). In most states (including where I took drives ed) you don’t have to stop in that situation. In MD you do. I paid, but am still angry about it. I feel like a cop would have given a wRning at most in that situation but with cameras you are screwed. I’m normally all for strict school bus laws, but that situation was pretty ridiculous. |
That is not Maryland law. The bus driver must put on yellow warning lights 100 feet before stop. |
Says who? Same company. Same guy. Same scam. |
I didn't know that grass medians don't count. Good to know. My only issue with school busses is that the one serving my neighborhood parks in the entrance to the neighborhood (blocking the crossroad) even when waiting with doors closed and lights off. Otherwise, happy to stop. |

It is all water under the bridge now but for what it’s worth if you had stopped abruptly and someone had run into you you would not have been at fault. The person driving behind you would have been at fault.
Signed, A person who has both rear ended people who have stopped abruptly and a person who has been at rear ended because I myself stopped abruptly. |
This exactly! |
