Of course, and in other jobs neglecting the overall context and focusing on the wrong details that are trivial to the situation can get you killed (pilot, soldier, etc.). Not all jobs require the same skills.

I agree that not all jobs require the same skills, but the reason initial military training is so anal retentive about uniform care, making a bed and the like, is to train soldiers to pay attention to detail.
