He only had an SAT of 1270 and the average Harvard SAT is around 1500.

Preposterous comment reflecting no understanding of how competitive universities actually work. This is not a cookie-cutter exercise. The Harvard mean is a bit below 1500. The distribution in the lower percentages is wide but all of those applicants are distinguished in some respects. Some have extensive international backgrounds. Some are jocks. A tiny handful are armed forces veterans. A 1270 is in the top 15% nationally and is numerically tough to distinguish from the top 10%. He may not be at the top of the admissions range but he is definitely above the bottom. He has distinguished himself and he will do well.

It is more difficult to get into Harvard than to stay in Harvard. He will get through with activism and end up in politics. It is not like he is going into engineering, math, or medicine where intellect is needed.

Absolutely correct.

It's way harder to master high level math and engineering, which takes years of persistent study and high IQ.

Sending BS tweets and organizing meaningless marches are much easier. Every single HS student can do that.

1270 doesn't even get you into GMU engineering here. That's why no one takes Harvard seriously in academic circles. High intellects go to MIT, Cal tech, and Princeton.

Schools like Harvard aren’t like schools that only look at one statistic, the score on a 3 hour exam. They have the luxury of considering many aspects of an applicant.

You seem to lack some imagination when it comes to people’s qualifications. Are you in personnel by any chance?

Intellect is a false standard. If you have the intellect to do math or physics and your life’s accomplishment is to run a small business, are you better than any other small business person? No. Arguably you wasted your potential by not inventing something that affects an entire nation.

Hogg has already moved the needle on American gun control, if only a little. The right hates him because of the influence he has had, so much so that they are still trying to tear him down even today.

You sound like a lovely human being.

I am not the one making a living off the deaths of my schoolmates.

That kid is a ghoul.

You’re mad because he’s already more accomplished than you, a loser at life grown man gun chunk?

Send another $100 to build the wall. Or donate more to the NRA so that Torshin can add to his dacha. LOL.

Sure so I guess doctors are ghouls too.

Soldiers must be ghouls.

Do you think parents that advocate for insurance coverage of rare diseases their children died from, are ghouls? Are widows of police officers that died from lack of sufficient safety gear who now run charity foundations for the same, also ghouls?

What is wrong with you?

Harvard will end up regretting this when he starts attacking the institution, looking for more controversy (real or contrived, i doesn’t matter) to exploit to feed his hunger for notoriety and being in the spotlight.

Nice to know that if one of your loved ones died in a tragedy you wouldn’t do a thing to try to prevent such tragedies from happening again.

He lived through a violent shooting with classmates literally dying around him. In his school, where he was supposed to be safe. He spoke out against other kids having to go through that and advocated for policy changes that he thought would prevent it.

He didn't, like, pee on the county courthouse because they wouldn't let him smoke weed in the public park. Jesus.

Well yes, I'd say his work on gun control beats your kid's internship at Dad's law firm any day.

We are STEM people.
