thanks for coming here simply to troll ... the reason I have an electric mower is because gas ones do indeed break down. Happy trolling!

These have a design flaw where if you fold the handle all the way up too often it breaks the wiring. Had mine repaired and the woman at the repair shop showed me 20 other mowers with the exact same problem.

BTW, it breaks at the hinge, for those trying to DIY fix it. Best bet is call Ego and try to get a warranty repair.

Where is the reset button on the ego lawn mover manual

This seems to have happened with ours, too, and it's at the repair shop now for a warranty repair. Guess it's OK since the warranty is good for five years; I just have to figure out how to make sure that if it happens again, it's not more than three years from now!

Right, because gas mowers are actually simpler mechanically and no one I know has ever had a problem with bad gas or plugs or a carburetor causing a mower not to start.

Actually they ARE pretty simple. Ever take one apart? There's pretty much nothing that can't be fixed or replaced on one in less than an hour, right down to the piston and connecting rod.

Not everyone wants to or can take their lawn mower apart. Get a life.

EGO mowers rule.

Fourth season with my EGO and no problems...until today. It would start and run for a few seconds and stop. Little green light flashing. Charged the battery again..same thing. Got it to run standing still but as soon as I pushed on the handle to move forward it cut off. After a few times with this happening I noticed that the clamp that locks the handle extension in place had come loose allowing the handle to move slightly. Yet another safety feature. Refastened the clamp and the mower runs great again.

The grass was a bit higher than normal and slightly wet...So the little light flickered a bit and then died. The battery works just fine (tried it in my neighbor's Ego and it worked fine). I cleaned out the undercarriage (and yes, there was a lot of grass stuck in it). But it still isn't starting....DH gets home Saturday and will not be happy about this...Any ideas? Anyone experience something similar?

Here is the problem. The eGo lawn mower has a problem with the folding arm. When you fold it for storage, and unfold it, and do this several times, the aluminum (not copper) electrical connection in the arm of the mower becomes damaged. This is a known problem. Call eGo, tell them about the yellow light and the mower killing, etc, and they will walk you thru ensuring that the battery isn't bad (it isnt) and will refer you to a warranty dealer. I had to drive about 45 minutes to get there. They gave me a new mower on the spot.

Just tell him he should have been mowing to keep you from messing it up.

There seems to be this thought among people that unless it's completely 100% green, then it is not worth it.

Further, the argument that charging it spews pollution is a bit of a chicken and an egg. The power plants already exists and the amount of energy that a battery draws is minimal.

Compare that to the continual refining of fossil fuels for gas to power the mower Plus the pollution generated locally and the energy from the refinery, and electric comes out as a net positive for the environment. In spite of all the talk if " efficiency."

Finally, the battery powered mower has the advantage of moving into the future. That is, as solar panels and more renewable resources become more available for charging, in the long run, the battery is the future

All that lithium market is being dominated by China, which is now moving to secure an additional source, it's been reported the Saudi Arabia of lithium is Afghanistan.

Manual reel mower? I use hedge clippers!

I think you were just making numbers up. The thermal efficiency of a gasoline-powered engine is 20%. For a battery powered engine, it is 26%. If you are going off of and hydro electric or solar grid, your efficiency is going to be boosted.

I can't find a single source anywhere that backs up your numbers and monkey math.

Hydro and solar, you are no longer in the same calculation, as their is no carbon source whose efficiency is being calculated.
For solar, you have a much lower efficiency in that it only captures a fraction of the solar energy to begin with.
