Why was my post on the obnoxious liberal marching thru neighborhood deleted?

NP here. Jeff can delete whatever posts he wants, but I think this deletion was not warranted. Lots of people post on DCUM to whine. As I wrote on OP’s thread, I would be incensed if selfish idiots with no regard for innocent third parties decide to disturb their sleep. They can go and protest as close to the White House as they can. I have a teen who has exams and auditions and needs his sleep.

The people who support out elected officials that institute these policies are not "innocent third parties." If OP's sleep was disturbed, that's OK by me. Get your kid some earplugs.

I am not OP, by the way. My children are innocent third parties, and it's their sleep that are disturbed, and no, they should not need to wear earplugs to accommodate people who yell in the night.

I have to say that I am VERY disappointed in you, Jeff. I have used DCUM for a decade and love it. Just because the OP is irrationally angry against liberals, it does not make her story automatically untrue. And if her story is true (whether exaggerated or not), then she has a point - it's really annoying for a private individual to be disturbed at night by protesters (or construction work, or a neighborhood party).

I don't believe for a second that any of you who are attacking OP would be happy if protesters had started making noise so late at night, even if you agreed with them.

How sad that even decent folk, as I am sure you all are, fall victim to the breakdown of civil discourse. I hope you can calm down and see that none of you should be so angry at OP.
It's funny that I should be defending her, when I myself do not approve of this administration, my family is the target of Border Control agents every time we enter the US, because some of us are not citizens.

Personally, I'm loving this. But, maybe it's because I know Jeff IRL a little. Anyway, if you want to see censorship of a forum - try to get on the Chevy Chase DC yahoo group - the moderator will actually edit your posts without telling you. Sometimes quite substantial changes. Insane. At least Jeff just has fun albeit arbitrary rules that pick on conservatives. I'm all for it.

Thanks for the perspective, PP. I think it's very unfortunate, because it gives credence to conservatives' claims that they are being silenced on certain platforms.

Yeah, I'm sure Jeff is next on the committee subpoena list. ALex Jones will be confronting him in the Russell Office Building hallways next week.

Gimme a break.

Two wrongs don't make a right. If you squash every dissenting opinion, don't complain if or when the same is done to you.

Deal! When Jeff deletes one of my posts, I won't start a new thread whining about it.

I frequently wish that I did silence conservatives. I am really tired of their constant whining. They are the noisiest group of silenced people I’ve ever encountered.

Huh - how interesting *that* was the immediate analogy that came to mind. Wonder why that is?

That's an expression when an angry mob turns up, such as what we saw and continue to see as a result of my complaining about liberals possibly breaking a noise ordinance.

No, it's a direct reference to Nazis murdering 85 people for political reasons in 1934. That is not what's happening to you.

You have it all wrong!

Yes, a poster said that the protestors would not have made such a long diatribe (using that claim to disprove the entire thing), but the OP (me), never said that. I reported their five-word chant. And then, I reminded the poster that other liberals have said long chants (the dead cop examole) showing that a long chant in and of itself doesn't make my report inaccurate. But,in any event, I reported the five words they kept saying. One of which is the f-word, when little children are trying to sleep!

This is why you shouldn't have deleted the thread. Lots of lies and false accusations are being thrown at me, and the thread doesn't exist anymore for me to prove they're lies.

That's because your bias is so extreme that you delete perfectly acceptable threads, such as one complaining about liberals marching in a private neighborhood at night.

So the old thread should not have been deleted because you need it to support claims you made in a new thread about the old thread . . . being deleted?

That's some convoluted logic right there. If you're going to stretch the meaning of "logic" to the breaking point.

The OP rang false and then the second post claiming the marchers were shouting they wanted open borders and to let in high school dropouts sealed the deal. If there had been 30 people marching through my neighborhood shouting about anything at anytime of day, I would have video of it.
OP is full of it.

What do you get out of coming to a place where you feel censored and oppressed to express views that people denigrate? I truly don't understand it. If I feel unwelcome in a place that I have no obligation to frequent, I choose to avoid that place and save myself the hassle. I personally think you just like to complain and clutch your pearls about the mean liberals and how much they hate you.

So, you are claiming that you wrote multiple posts about the protesters, but not the one I described even though you defended that post which you now agree was false?

And in this case, MY apparently "dissenting opinion" is that I don't like angry, profane liberals marching through my neighborhood at night when children are sleeping. Apparently, some liberals (not all, clearly) think it is just fine. But my opinion that it is wrong should have not been deleted. It's a valid opinion.

OP the simple answer is Jeff is an intolerant liberal who uses this platform to suppress conservative views. In typical liberal fashion he's all about a variety of viewpoints as long as he agrees with them.

Yes. Of COURSE I wrote more than one post about these protestors - I was in a debate with liberals who were saying I made up the story. I was responding to these posts. You are getting posters mixed up.

No view was suppressed. What was suppressed was a false story that wasn’t even political. A possible violation of a local noise ordinance is not a topic for our national political forum.

Why did you defend a post that you now admit was false and make an even more provocative claim?

Yes, that is what has me so frustrated. The thread I started was a very legitimate topic - about protestors screaming profanities at night in a residential neighborhood.

He makes it much worse by deleting legitimate threads, simoly because they are started by a conservative and show (some) liberals to be obnoxious.
