Oh. I got my license when I turned 16 in 1986 in Fairfax CO. Side/profile photo. If you were underage you had a side photo instead of full face.

They just handed me the license when I came back in from road test. I think we took the written test and if passed went out for the road test.

I remember my ponytail profile shot made me look like I was 12.

I got mine in 1988 in Fairfax Co and remember having to attend this. It was held at Fairfax high school in the evenings and your parents had to attend but they didn't give you the license at that meeting/ceremony because I know I drove myself there and my parents drove and met me there. I know attending was mandatory and my parents griped about having to go as well as I did. Maybe they issued some kind of provisional license and then you had to attend the meeting/ceremony and get a full license??

I got my license in Fairfax County in 1989, never had to attend this ceremony. Took the driving test, got the license.

Sounds like a complete waste of time.

You were 18.

I, for one, am not opposed to teens hearing from court officians that driving is a very serious responsibility.

This is not a ceremony. It’s safety scared straight class. Who named it such a stupid thing.

And whoever called someone a dunce for not knowing about this is rude.

Does anyone have an email address or phone number that I can call to speak to a person, instead of a machine?

So, my family left (the country) prior to my son got his license. The last I heard it was still at the Juvenile Court... and my son is now 18. Does anyone know how he would get his license?

I got my license in Fairfax County in the 90s, during Behind the Wheel. My instructor handed me a paper that said I was now a licensed driver. When I got home, I left a note on the counter that simply said: "got my license, went to the grocery store, taking the honda"

At some point I went to the DMV for the non-paper license. No ceremony. No fuss.

No you didn’t. I turned 16 in 1985 and had to go to falls church high school where we had a presentation and got our licenses. They were not handed out at the dmv.

You need to contact Juvenile Court and ask to speak to a clerk.
