Never? YOU are weird.

I’m smart. I am careful about what I buy.

You either don't shop online or you have a magical body whose proportions happen to fit every article of clothing, regardless of cut,or sizing. You are an outlier. Most of us aren't that lucky.

I would say sanctimonious.

Wasn’t Target doing this at one point?

I think it’s kind of weird that you can’t pick a color before ordering, but multiple sizes/styles I get. I recently ordered several pairs of women’s golf shoes at once because there aren’t any stores nearby that carry a wide selection.

Colors on computer screens don’t always reflect the actual color of the item. Is it really that confusing? And yes, perhaps some ordinary retailers were enforcing this type of policy at some point, and maybe still do, but that’s just one reason brick and mortar retailers are struggling.

How could a clothing/shoe retailer expect you to know what fits and looks good on you via a picture on the internet?

Of course online retailers expect you to try things on after they've been shipped to you and of course they expect you to send the stuff back that you don't want.

Unless they expressly say No Returns, you can bet that people will be making returns.

I went shopping yesterday for clothes and tried on two pairs of pants, same size, same brand. For some reason the blue pair of pants fit perfectly but the light colored ones were a bit snug and too long. Needless to say, I did not get those light colored pants. If I had ordered them online instead I would have shipped them right back.

What if it gets lost in the mail?

It doesn’t. If you look at the UPS store return pile everything is going to zappos or Amazon.

Yeah, I throw them on the counter and usually have an email about the refund before I'm back home. They know what's supposed to be in the box and making the process breezy is in their interest. I'm sure if there was ever a snafu they'd eat a loss to keep a customer. If someone is a fraudster they'd know by statistics, a package vanishing without a scan would be rare.

jC Penney - does anyone actually shop at JC Penney?? That is it’s own punishment.

That’s what online shopping is about. The cost of returning stuff is built into the price.

You sound very uptight and a bit special.

I prefer to shop in the stores - lots more variety to choose from. Given how crowded the stores were yesterday (middle of the day on a Wednesday) I think that there are many who feel the same way as me. Got some great deals, too.

I agree prior prior poster must be 100 years old. This is the new business model. There is nothing unethical or unsavory about what op is doing. It is how most of us shop now.

I’m 42

You must be buying the same brand and style year after year. Or you are going to brick and mortar stores, trying clothes on, figuring out what you like and then going home and ordering the stuff online. No way are you blindly ordering everything online and having a 100% success rate with everything you buy.

I think you get more leeway with Zappos because all shoes fit differently and they understand that ordering them online is a risk.

This is true, but also evidence of why OP's DH is dead wrong.
