| what was going around my kids preschool was an undiagnosed respiratory virus...runny nose, some kids cough/some no cough, some slight fever (preschoolers younger 17month--102.7 fever). We do not know if this is swine flu, but is not like the other cold viruses that come on at this time of year. I am NOT so confident as others seem to be in calling this the swine flu. Frankly, I think there has been this cold virus (rhinovirus)going around which always happen at this time of year and ppl keep saying 'oh it was prob. swine flu'. I am getting the swine flu for my 17month old and my 4 year old, and myself. |
edited to convey my thoughts better---late, watching larry david and typing on one leg currently .

| I heard that the vaccine has a mild, low dose of something similar to mercury and that is why we should not give it to babies. Since it could cause autism. Please don't quote me on this though because I heard through a cousin in law who is a pediatrician but I'm not sure how much research he really did. |
| Pediatric Village in DC is NOT offering the vaccine. They tell me there is insufficient evidence it will not cause other harmful effects. I asked what that evidence was, but they wouldn't tell me. Are other people having the same issues? I have a 3-yr-old and a 6-yr-old, both in school and at a lot of playdates. What should I do? Anyone know where you CAN get the vaccination in DC? |
| Ours hopes to get it and is keeping us posted. |
Their reasoning and their sealed lips on the "harmful effects" are very suspect to me. |
| Mine is offering it bit doesnt have enough for all patients so they are doing their critical patients first and told every else to look elsewhere. Argh |
Mercury DOES NOT cause autism. Mercury has been out of kids vaccines for years and in that time Austim has increased. |
Kids are dying from it--I would say it's a pretty big deal to any parent who lost their child. |
I agree. My kid (18mo) had exactly these symptoms 2-3 weeks ago and did not seem to be in pain. We took her to the pediatrician who did not do a formal test but did not think that it was the H1N1. Many kids in the neighborhood had the same symptoms then. |
