S/o - AAP orientation attendance

Anonymous
Our orientation addressed the question of coming in as an "older" student (not 3rd grade) but it appears every school is different

I do think as parents you get something out of the orientation, even if you are at a center school. They talked a lot about how they meet the needs of AAP students. Your child might find it boring and may not get as much out of it, so it's your call if it seems appropriate to bring your son/daughter, but if it's your first AAP experience I think it's worth it for one adult to attend.

It seems as though parents who go to the AAP orientations that already have kids at the school in the AAP program are going to be “seen”. Especially if the kids are already in the center as a base school. I could see parents possibly going if their 2nd or 3rd kid etc. was not at the center to see who from the different base school was there. Or if it’s been over 4 years since last attending an orientation. There is really no reason to go to these things more than once.
