The most prolific posters on College Confidential are flyover state rubes with average ambition kids. It's a depressing place once you realize most of those nuts don't even have kids in high school or college (anymore), they just keep posting awful advice over and over and over.

Also, a lot of the smart "kids" are larping helicopter moms pretending to be their kid.

Weird site that hit its peak usefulness over a decade ago.

I agree! Although I did learn a few things there, it was like that week after my kid swallowed a magnet.

Flyover state rubes? God, I hate people like you.

For people in Mississippi that go to Europe, flyover states would include va, md, pa, ny, ct, ma

Thank you for posting, lol. People in this area exhaust me sometimes.

I beg to differ.

I have the opposite advice: go to the very best school you can get into.

It depends on the major and job. My husband went to a no name school no one has heard of and is doing very well.

Don't worry about the money.

Just go to the best place you get in. We'll figure it out.

Just take out loans.

GPA is more important than test scores.

Meh. I hear this a lot but it just has not proven to be true at all in my career.

Are those the ones who think everyone should go to Bama?

Hahaha! "My kid is thriving at [insert open-admissions dump]!" or "If your DC is thinking medical school, it does not matter where they do undergrad!" Imbeciles.

Actually the last part is true. Medical schools want high GPAs and high MCAT scores. You can learn this pretty quickly when researching how to get into med school. Its not like college admissions. But, thanks for playing!

We just went through the college admissions process and it is still an enigma to me.

I have looked at posts on college confidential and seen kids that were accepted into schools that my kid was denied from and then seen those same kids rejected or wait listed from schools that my kid was accepted to.

These are all qualified students and I'm sure that they'll thrive wherever they choose to attend.
