Seriously? She was in blackface. And she was wearing a 2.5 ft tall afro wig to signify that she was a black woman -- who never wore her hair like that. She just put on an afro and a pound and a half of bronzer and called herself Diana Ross.

Maybe she was channeling this Diana:

You must not have seen the episode. The wig she wore looked nothing like that at all. It was not round. It was over two feet tall. There was no reference to Diana Ross at all, just "black kind of hair" + brown face paint.

Bethenny seems very ... intense. I admire the Puerto Rico stuff, but it's like she gave herself a "don't take any shit from anybody" pep talk before the party. And I don't think she needed that pep talk to begin with.

I'm really surprised they brought Tinsley back, she's so boring.

The theme was Famous Person DEAD or ALIVE.

I also thought the theme was a living famous person. Regardless, Barbie is neither.

Anyone else find it bizarre that Bethenny can be in the throes if dispair over losing Cookie yet can be sure to blog her hysteria?

No. My ... canine-niece was being put to sleep and my brother called me to come over and say goodbye to her. I stayed for hours. We all cried on and off that entire afternoon. After the vet left, we got dinner delivered and my SIL wrote a beautiful FB tribute, as did my brother. Each posted on their respective pages.

What? There absolutely was a reference to Diana Ross. She asked if the girls knew who she was and they said Diana Ross. And Lu nodded. I just watched the episode and it’s very clear that’s who she was going for. And yes, the wig was ridiculous. And the blackface was racist.

You're misunderstanding my use of reference. Of course she stated out loud "I'm Diana Ross." But the wig wasn't referencing Ross's 'fro, because it looked nothing at all like it, and she isn't famous for having an afro in the first place. The outfit wasn't a reference to any famous Diana Ross style -- it was a jumpsuit Luann wears all the time. The blackface was just racism. The costume did not reference the person she claimed she was dressed as, except that the hair was generically kind of like a black person's hair and she made her face darker.

Contrast that with Sonja, who had just a kind of generic red wig but nailed Lucy with the eyelashes and outfit -- she was recognizably dressed as Lucy. There were Lucy references throughout the costume (although Rocco was a terrible Ricky).

The wig was not Diana Ross at all. It was Marge Simpson with a brown dye job.

Not to mention she dresses like she’s 20 but looks like she’s 55

Wait what? I think carol is pretty

Carol pretty? She looks like a horse, she is by far the least attractive on the sheow I am shocked she hasn’t done some kind of surgery for her mouth

I think she looks great. What's that quote? There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion.
The whole NY group is much more interesting looking with better individual style than boring BH.

Carole has a great body. And yes, they don't all have that blonde plastic-y look. Although what was UP with Sonja last night with that garish red lipstick and weird hair in the "talk to the camera" portions? It almost didn't look like her.

Yes she looked horrible in those segments. Like she applied her make up in the dark.

Yes, I would say that Sonja, for example, is pretty in a way that has some "strangeness in the proportion" (though seh's super annoying). But Carole is ugly. Not "interesting" or "pretty in an off-beat way", just breathtakingly ugly. Her tiny, sunken eyes and huge mouth...

Can we talk about Dorinda's sloppy drunk slurring in this episode?

She was a complete mess. She’s too old for that level of ridiculousness.

Writing about your grief is different than sobbing in a video you are steaming for complete strangers. It's the bethenny show 24/7.

This. I 100% feel for her in her grief - that dog was her family. It was the only living being that Bethenny has never alienated. But to live stream your grief is just gross.

OK make that show and start another thread, lady.

Yes, called the “Real Housewives of the 1950s.”
