Frequent urination in teen

Um. Okay. People can be intelligent and have OCD. Why would you suggest otherwise? In fact I bet more intelligent people have OCD than dumb people.

The simplest answer is a UTI. Cranberry juice. You can buy a test strip at CVS.

It can be a sign of diabetes as well. Rule out UTI first. That is the most COMMON reason.

Small bladder is a real thing

I just want to mention that Type 1 diabetes rates have in eased exponentially as a result of covid. Prior to covid it was fairly rare as we’d eliminated so many of the old viral triggers. They are now seeing a big resurgence in the past year, which they believe is triggered by covid in kids who may not even have known they had covid.
I’ve heard this from two different pediatric specialists, one of whom specializes in diabetes and the other with a different specialty.

Just wondering if anyone else has experience this? She is very frustrated because she feels like she has to leave every class. Any advice??

Get a UTI test!!!! Go right to doc or minute clinic. Give urine sample. Request antibiotics right then pending urine culture results. If results negative, doesnt go away, get blood sugar test. In meantime, give Allicin vitamin 2x/day for few weeks. That clears a lot of issues for me.

As it is now, I get up to pee at night 3-5 times and during the day pee every 60-120 mins, more often if i drink a lot of liquid.

When I was 20, I went to the doctor and had all sorts of tests run. I don't have diabetes and I'm not knocked up. They couldn't find the problem. I've learned to live with it.

Did they check for a urethra stricture? They can result in not fully emptying the bladder so you have to go all the time. My husband also had this since he was a teenager and recently had surgery to correct. We’re in our mid-40s. He can go for hours without having to pee now. He sleeps all night long without getting up to go to the bathroom! The recovery was difficult but well worth it. Might be worth seeing a urologist.

Cranberry juice won't cure it. It's a wise tale.

You need a real urine culture. But yes, UTI most common reason

Pure, undiluted, sugar-free cranberry juice (NOT oceanspray!) will totally cure a UTI if you drink a liter or so of it right when you begin feeling like you have one. Not a chance if it’s been going in for a month.

This. Frequent urination was one of the first signs of type 1 in my 14 year old. We caught it early. At least do a simple finger stick. That can at least give you an idea.

Did you see Urologist?
It has been 34 years since you went to doctor about this issue?

Yes, I did see a urologist.

UTI, diabetes, STI, obstruction from a variety of causes (may want ultrasound and/or CT scan if you rule out diabetes or infection).

I agree with the posts to rule out UTI and Diabetes, but also consider anxiety. Feeling an urge to pee because you're otherwise anxious is common.

UTI, embedded UTI, anxiety, or pelvic floor issue

Obviously you need to rule out a uti.
After that she is headed down a path to diagnose overactive bladder.
At 13, I started having to urinate about every 30 minutes. I had to leave class all the time and stopped playing sports.

I’ve tried all the meds and it didn’t help me but they could help her.

There are therapies that can help retrain your bladder and some day it helps. There is a treatment where they put a needle in your ankle and a stim wire which apparently calms the bladder. It didn’t work for me but it’s easy enough to try.

For me, only cbd oil has helped. I’ve had this for 35 years.
You learn to live with it but it’s not fun.

I hope you find a solution
