+10. We don’t need this attitude from within the profession. If you don’t admire and respect the position yourself, it’s probably not a good fit for you. Suggest you learn more about the role and the concept of a multidisciplinary healthcare team before proceeding. -Another ACNP (FNP-C) with no particular color collar |
Why don’t you ask an actual PA, you turd. I suspect you’ll be filtered out from the profession from the get go. Perhaps a profession that better matches your ego is the way to go? Or are you here just to troll 😈?? |
really? which one? |
| You’re over 30? Grow a spine. Do you want to be a PA? Who TF cares what is white or blue collar? |
| I went back to school at 31 to become an RN in a 2nd degree program. Not embarrassed, LOVE my job, love my schedule. Do you think being a nurse is embarrassing? |
| S/O thread idea: Are Physician Assistants tacky? |
| RN, NP, PA —none of these are embarrassing at all. Requires skill and hard work and commitment. Makes for a decent living too. One job that I view as low class is personal trainer when that person only has a high school diploma and 2 day training class to get “certified”. Relative thinks they are “saving lives” but that’s just wishful thinking. |
Exactly. I don’t want to see a PA who thinks like you. |
Why would you even think this? It’s highly esteemed and beneficial? RN-BSN |
Yes instead how about Essential — healthcare, building & infrastructure industry, education, and believe it or not the arts |
Me too in my 40s. Bedside to community health to school health, maybe hospice next. Love my job. |
Both PA’s and RN’s are respectable. They are highly skilled and require education. Not so, low class jobs that require a 2-day “certification” like personal trainer at the local gym. |
|
HELL NO!
It requires a bachelor of science degree, followed by P.A. program. Blue collar = construction, restaurant, dry cleaner, gas station Grey collar = plumber, electrician White collar = my job is at a desk or required a bachelor's degree |
|
Blue collar jobs aren’t embarrassing.
PA is not a blue collar job. |
I think of blue collar as being construction, plumber, electrician, etc. Something skilled and respectable and a good living Restaurant staff (unless at a high end restaurant) at a Applebee’s type place is usually uneducated and unskilled and low class. Dry cleaners or gas station owners are good for the small business owner/immigrant—can be a good living (staff not so much). People who are personal trainers with only high school education and a two day certification are usually losers. I never heard of gray collar. Never heard of gray collar. |
