iPad Winner Redirect is back

And again and again and again. It's gotten much more frequent, to the point that I'm going to have to find another way to waste time.

Sorry about these ads. It's become almost a full time job to combat them. As soon as I block one, another gets through. I was away from DCUM for a while working on another problem. But, I'll try to track this down now.

If you report a redirect, please mention what device/browser you are using and how you were connecting. For instance, iPhone with Safari using wifi.

Thanks.

iPhone with Safari. Clicked on Recent Topics and immediately got a fake Google page telling me my system is heavily damaged by four virus (as though that's the name of a virus). Just happened.

PP, using wifi.

I was on my iPad using Chrome and had just opened Dcum recent topics. Agreed that it happens much more frequently now. I tried to post each time it happens (recently) in this thread and include the link. Do the links help?

Knowing the hostname where the redirect lands is helpful ("tiesearch.com" in the above link). Since the link has the hostname, it is helpful to that extent. But, otherwise, the link is not that useful.

Good to know. Thanks. I was connecting through wifi.

Also got it multiple times today on an iPhone with Safari. And now it keeps popping up even though I have closed out DCUM.

Can you please explain further what you mean by "keeps popping up even though I have closed out DCUM"? Do you mean it pops up while you are viewing other websites?

I don't have proof, but I have anecdotal evidence that when you get one of these ads you get a cookie that causes you to get them more often. I believe that is why some users are effected over and over again while some don't get them at all. So, deleting your cookies may be a good way to reduce these redirects. Keep in mind that the cookies will come from another domain -- now www.dcurbanmom.com. So, you have to remove all cookies, not just DCUM cookies.

I got the four virus pop up AFTER clearing all cookies on my iPhone (using Safari).

Now using Google chrome instead.

I cleared cookies, went back to DCUM, and immediately got the "virus" warning. Twice. Running safari on iPhone 5.

I'm getting the virus redirect too. iPhone user.

Happened today on iPhone. "Winner" thing while reading a thread - not on main topics page.

Yes - that's what I meant. (Pops up while viewing other websites after closing the DCUM tab.) I just cleared my cookies, so hopefully that will take care of it. Before I did that, I got the other popup- "your system is damaged" - yesterday it was the free iPad message.

Thanks for chasing this down.
