Would you let your 11 year old ride the metro alone 4 stops?

Why?

Also, are you a regular Metro rider?

I WAS a regular Metro rider, but not anymore. I stopped when it became clear that Metro Police refuses to crack down on the rampant juvenile crime.

I value my safety, and I feel safer in my car than on the Metro.

I've got no concerns about allowing my 10 year old to ride the bus or train by himself so long as he is confident in the route.

Stuff happens in life but public transportation around here is exceptionally safe - I'm far more worried about him being in the car with my wife who drives like a maniac.

Ten?? I think you're nuts! -Native Washingtonian

You value your feelings of safety. Statistically, you're far safer on the Metro.

Yes i would. But I would look for someone to accompany him (like another friend) or I would do it for a week with him first. Lots of kids ride metro and buses around the city starting in middle school.
