How much to spend on lunch each day?

I think if you consider a lunch from home you also have to consider the cost of the materials, the lunch box (which you may lose / break) and the general hassle and time.

If you have leftovers, bringing them a couple of days for lunch is probably a good deal. But if you are also grocery shopping for lunch and want something hot, it's probably just not a good deal and I wouldn't worry about going for lunch in exchange.

You might also ask yourself if you could save $ elsewhere. For example, I got a Keurig for my office and the pods at Costco. Cost for coffee = $0.33. At 3 cups a day, adds up vs buying it at a coffee shop more than lunch would and honestly seems like less of a sacrifice to me. I actually like it better because I don't waste a ton of time in line for coffee during a busy day.
