| My mother's relatives did something like this. There were two families, two brothers had married two cousins, and they bought 2 adjacent pieces of land, fenced them, installed a gate, tore down the house on one, and built two mansions (they were both rich doctors). They had a lake with paddle boats, a tennis court, and an indoor pool in one of the houses. They also went to Disney World twice a year. I used to think their kids' lives were AMAZING, but they never really seemed too happy. |
| I misread and thought you wanted to build a house for you and your wife, and also for your future wives. I actually know of a compound like this. One house. Several campers. One old dude with several wives and many children. |

Make sure everyone applies for welfare and disability benefits.
And then complain constantly about big government. Thanks |
| Why? Why do you want to build this? |
| You people really consciously avoided the point of the questions just so you can make fun of someone and make yourselves feel better. Pathetic. It's a completely legitimate question and isn't weird or creepy or ender-ish at all. |

I have family with this type of set-up. It's a 'suburban' compound with a main ranch-style house with a driveaway leading to the street and then just off the interior courtyard is a second concrete path that leads around the side of the main house to the 'backyard' which is shared with three tiny bungalows.
If you didn't know it was back there, you'd never be able to tell from the main street. But the only people who live on the 'compound' are my cousin's jobless kids and their kids. Anyway that's one way. Another way is to buy 15+ acres in farm country, make sure its zones for multiple buildings and have at it. |

What type of livestock? Chickens? Cattle? Milking goats? I need more details before I can answer.

+1 It's DCUM. These people are scared of and threatened by those who eschew the cliched, one dimensional type lives most people here aspire to. Personally, I would LOVE to be able to provide such a place for my family. Several hundred rural acres, with woods and pastures and fields. Homesites for family members, everyone living in their own place, but just a few minutes away from each other. Generations all together, being around each other all the time, taking care of each other, a safe place for kids. It sounds like a dream come true. I wish I had the resources to create that..... I don't. But I sure envy those who can. |
