Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
+1 it just doesn't happen. |
+2 22205 here, as well, and I've never even heard it mentioned once in this type of conversation. Once kids are in school, events are school and activity-related. At most, people have used it to sell something. |

MONA started as an organization, but now I think it's also a catch phrase for what many consider to be the stereotype of a North Arlington mother.

| I have friends at both. My McKinley friends love their school. They do with that the boundary changes hadn't screwed them over, but they've had great teachers and the community is very supportive of the school. My Discovery friends love the condition of the school, but were happier at Nottingham. The administration was in over their heads and there is a bit of a "cool crowd" attitude among the parents that annoys them. However, they appreciate that the school isn't overcrowded and everything is still new. |
| Discovery parent here. The facility is gorgeous and my kids both had solid teachers, for the past two years. It is a school that wants for nothing, as the PTA is able to raise money for whatever needs are identified. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities, to the extent a previous poster implied the PTA is hard to break into. Just volunteer for the next event! |
Interesting but not very useful statement to someone trying to make a decision between 2 schools. |
One school has administration that is still finding its way and the other has a principal who recently won Principal of the Year. That's something I'd consider. |
Yes, one of 15 factors to consider but a good consideration nonetheless. |
Really? I'm surprised. My impression is most of the MONA leadership is concentrated in 22205. I think it is a great organization. |
Great positives. What are the negatives, if any, in your opinion? PPs on another thread indicate there are some. Thx. |
South Arlington Liberation Army would like to invite all interested parties to our super fancy grand gala at the Broiler next month, and our mid summer cotillion at the Weenie Beenie. Keep an eye out for engraved formal invites in your mailbox! Fingers crossed we can raise funds for a new fax machine for Randolph. VIVA SALA! |

SALA understands. Please, continue to whine about your exemplary schools. |
The PTA is hard to break into?! How can that be? They only just formed! I mean it's practically new. |
