I use the dusting brush on the end of my central vac hose to dust all the surfaces before I do the floors and rugs. It's really quick and easy to whip around each room and grab the dust with the vacuum. A huge bonus with the central vac is that the motor exhausts to the outdoors so none of it settles back down on the furniture.

I don't get how not dusting qualifies as "gross". It's dust.
Shit smeared all over my end tables - now that's gross. Fortunately we don't have that problem in our house.
Dust? NBD.

We have a cleaning lady that comes every other week and dusts the main areas and upstairs bathrooms. I do the bedrooms about once a week. I seriously loathe dust.

I don't get it either. We have pretty new windows and I put filters in the vents. I use the swifter mop refills to dust. I have a new Duson stick vac for the upstairs bedroom hardwoods and get under the beds often. I guess I should ask DH about a new furnace filter or it's just our forced air heat that makes it so dusty. It grosses me out!

I also am pretty fanatical about dusting my car. I dust it nearly every other day. I used to be a slob and now I am reformed.

Cleaners do it weekly

My kids like to write and draw in the dust.

Op, i too learned my lesson about dark furniture.

Weekly.

Wow. People are seriously obsessed with dust.
Anonymous
Never. Cleaners come every two weeks and I assume they do. But before I had cleaners, I never dusted regularly either.
Anonymous
I don't, that's what DH is for. I think he dusts weeklyish.

Do you know what's in dust? Human skin, mites, dirt, etc

Once a week if I'm in a good routine. Anything longer than that and the dust starts to show on our trinkets, the dust bunnies roll out from under the beds, etc...

To the non-dusters, how is dust not accumulating in your house?

It is accumulating. We are overlooking it.

You are lucky not to have any environmental allergies then! Especially in spring, I have to dust regularly otherwise the pollen comes from outside, the dust mites proliferate inside, and it's the death of us.

Honestly when I do dust - my daughter's allergies act up. Not saying I shouldn't dust - but its the movement of the dust that bothers her. Dusting invariably kicks up dust....

This is why I only dust when company comes over. Dusting activates my allergies.
