Lack of trouble at the women's march

I was one of the foreigners who posted here voicing safety concerns about the March, given my previous experience in other countries.

I went, and was DELIGHTED to be completely wrong!

However, my cell phone didn't work at all, and neither did my friends', so you must have had a magic phone

Yeah no one in my group had service, but friends standing in other areas did.

I always tell trump followers to f*ck off. I know for some reason people on here have a huge problem with swearing, but honestly I don't. I'm petite and a woman so all of them looked totally shocked and move on. If they attacked me, I'd go down immediately. But I think specifically because I look like maybe a librarian, it's shocking to hear me call them pieces of sh*t.

I don't see why it's okay for trump to say racist stuff specifically about my ethnicity and gender, but it's not okay to tell them to go f*ck themselves.

I'm totally okay taking a punch if it comes down to it.

We have a great start with women like Sheikh Hasina Wajed, Laimdota Traunjuma, Erna Solnerg, Dalia Grubauskaite, Ewa Kopacz, Marie Louisa Coleiro Preca, Kolinda Granar Kitarovic, Simonetta Sommaruga, Catherine Samba Lanza, Alenka Bratisek (shout to Melania Trump), Atifete Jahjaga, Helle Thorning, Schmidt, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Park Geun-hye and Portia Simpson Miller.

I think the scared or worried people fell into a few camps.
- Conservatives trying to dissuade people from going to keep numbers down
- People who generally live a life of fear, don't go into the city, and don't like to venture out and try new things.
- People who aren't as supportive of issues as they say they or pretend they are.

I know some people didn't go because of work conflicts, or because of issues with crowds - and I get that. But I'm specifically talking about those who expressed unwarranted concerns and worries.

Minwas one of those and given that Trump supporters would be in town I did not think it was unwarranted concern. I did not fall into any of your 3 arbitrary groups. I simply was concerned fights could break out and the crowds would make it difficult to get away from anything bad that happened. I do admit I was wrong and it was a great day. A fight did break out on my train though.

Eh, there probably would have bden a fight on the metro ag so.e point this past weekend even if the inauguration & march had not taken place. I live in San Francisco now but when I was in DC, I witnessing fights while in crowded metro trains wasn't all that unusual, especiau. Most just involved the parties shouting obscenities & threats at each other & maybe some pushing, but I did see 2 fights where punches were thrown & the police came. I've only lived in SF for about 7 months & have already witnessed one such fight on a BART platform (& a couple of shouting matches she on trains). It's just part of taking public transportation, particularly when you take it in places & at times where there are going to be a lot of people taking it with you.
