will borrowing a cat overnight solve our mouse problem?

Well plus even if the cat does adjust to being at your place and even if it is mice and even if it is a good hunter, if the mice are inside cupboards or drawers, having a cat there to catch them won't help.

I've found mine sitting on the counter pawing at cupboard doors and found (GROSS) mice droppings inside. Sanitized the cupboard and called an exterminator.

One would sit and watch the mice, another would run away, the third would chase and kill it, and the fourth would feign disinterest when she had an audience but then would quietly murder it later. Two hated strangers, one couldn't care, and the last never met a cable repairman or plumber she didn't instantly love and want to follow everywhere. I have given up on trying to understand cat psychology.

The only constant is this: if you want a cat to do something, guaranteed it won't do it. Little buggers.

Cats are so awesome!
