Or Strangeways in Clarendon? Or Bardo? My 80s happened in Pgh, where we danced at Metropol and this under 21 club called City Lights. It was a far cry from Studio 54 but the speakers were very powerful. My bff kissed one of Gene Loves Jezebel backstage and I was invited to party with the Soup Dragons (but passed). First concert was Love & Rockets Mirror People tour - so, so much hairspray and eyeliner, people. Before there was moshing there was slam dancing. One of my friends twisted an ankle slamming at a Dead Milkmen concert, and omg another time this annoying kid ran straight into my friend who was standing on the sidelines, spilled her soda, and she punched him and he flew over a table (he already had momentum). That's it. I need to text her and reminisce. I hung out with an arty CMU crowd and they had the coolest style. Slick little bobs and blucher moccasins with plaid mini skirts and shaker sweaters on preppy days. Ripped denim cut offs over cute print boxers on punk days, with doc martens natch. Boys in eyeliner and hair all crazy up in the sky. Add it Up Warm Leatherette She Sells Sanctuary Nemesis Institutionalized Ca plan pour moi Running up that hill Der Komissar Love is a Stranger I don't really revisit decades musically, but every now and then crave a Thomas Dolby fix. White City. Dissidents. I Scare Myself. Hyperactive. |

Adam Ant.
He was a hottie. With male eyeliner even.....
|
| Stray cats were the greatest show I ever saw. Bryan Setzer on guitar , the stand up drummer and bass. Best rockabilly ever. |
I know! Please share footage if you get any...wish I could go. |
| Siouxsie Sioux. Need I say more? |
