Leave 7 yo in car sleeping when picking up sibling from camp?

I don't how people leave their car running in public places for any amount of time. My engine is turned off any time I'm packing and getting off the care! Even if I'm just pumping gas. I can leave my 7 year old in the car on a hot afternoon with a) window rolled down b) he is completely comfortable with it and agrees to it (which means he's wide awake) c) he knows which building I'm entering d) we go over what to do if something comes up.

No way. It's not about the kid's age; its way too hot for that. And leaving a 7 yo in a running car alone is dangerous for other reasons if you want to use thr A/C.

I would agree that it's too hot but my 7yo is able to get herself out of the car if necessary. In this situation, I would be fine with leaving my kid in the car if she is awake, the car is parked in the shade and within sight of where I am going, and the windows are open.

I wouldn't in this heat, but because I would not want to leave my car on. That seems fairly dangerous. Not to mention you are killing the air quality around the pick up spot.

And I would not want a 7 year old napping as it would ruin bedtime.

Tell your DH it isn't the 80's! How would your kid have reacted when they woke up alone in the car? They might have got out of the car and left the door open or played with buttons, pedals, etc. Just not safe! You likely never have taught your kid what to do in that situation so, no.

Your kid would be fine but I'd be more worried about some moron calling the police.

Your 7 year old needs an earlier bedtime. Well rested 7 year olds don't randomly fall asleep in the car.

My 35 year old well-rested BIL falls asleep anytime he's in the car longer than 20 minutes. Some people just do that.

i would not leave my 7 yr old in the car for 5-10 minutes with no AC while he was sleeping. I would probably leave him in the car with it on and him awake depending on the area. I would def do it in my hometown.

Dangerous - and anyone seeing this would have every reason to call police (I would most definitely!) If you were out in small town USA / sure maybe but not here, not in this heat, not at that age

No don't do it ever
